I’m a human being, free spirit, inveterate optimist, lover, mother, friend, knitter, reader, writer, in the shower singer, listener, overthinker, crafter, postcard collector, chocolate eater, yarn addict, yogi, herb grower, day dreamer, night owl …a German blogging about her life in Virginia, her knitting adventures, her travels and a lot of things that can’t be put in categories. 🙂
I learned to knit and crochet in school when I was about 9 years old. Our teacher was what seemed an ancient old lady with not a lot of patience. I managed to get through her classes with only a couple of discouraging comments. After the classes were over I stopped to knit and crochet immediately. But she couldn’t kill my love for creating something with my own hands. So I found my way back to yarn and needles after I came to the United States in 2003. In a lonely apartment with no friends around I didn’t know what to do with myself. I came up with the crazy idea of making a huge throw for our new queen size bed. I got myself some needles and yarn and hung out in front of my PC for hours and hours, re-learning to crochet with an online video. Well, from there it didn’t take long for me to get totally addicted to yarn, needles, hooks, patterns and all kinds of crafty things …
Nowadays I love spending my time developing my own patterns and thinking up cute little creatures.
Oftentimes I’m inspired by mythology, books or a good comic book. I love creating colorful, happy one-of-a-kind items because the world is already crowded with gray and dull off-the-conveyor-belt-monotony.
If you are interested in one of my creatures or if you have bought one of my little friends just drop me a line at firstname.lastname@example.org and let me know how they are doing! You can also post a pic on my facebook page https://www.facebook.com/TwoPointyStix/ – I’d love to hear from you!
